Preparing Sex Therapists to Work with Minor-Attracted Persons

This presentation explores the knowledge, skills, and ethical considerations needed to work with minor-attracted persons. Drawing on research into therapists’ perceived barriers to providing care, it examines how stigma, clinician discomfort, and gaps in training can affect access to treatment. Emphasis is placed on distinguishing attraction from behavior, addressing mental health and well-being, and preparing clinicians to provide compassionate, evidence-informed care that supports safety and the prevention of harm.

Education, Ethics, and Professional Belonging in Sex Therapy

This presentation explores how specialized education, ethical judgment, and professional community support responsible sex therapy practice. It considers boundaries, personal values, and clinical decision-making, highlighting the importance of a professional home that offers a clear code of ethics, opportunities for consultation, accountability, and ongoing learning.

  • Germany · Wed 25 Nov · 12:05pm–12:45pm (Berlin time - Europe/Berlin)

Sex, Religion, and Values in the Therapy Room

This presentation explores how religious beliefs and personal values shape sexual well-being and the therapeutic process. Drawing on clinical work with religious and conservative patients, it considers how therapists can address sexual concerns while respecting patients’ faith commitments. Particular attention is given to recognizing religion as a potential source of both support and distress, and examining how therapists’ own values influence care.
